Impact of GE result on property market likely limited

Tomorrow's election result will likely have limited impact on the property market given the cooling measures in place, although the Government may tweak some of these especially if the economy weakens further, property consultancy JLL said yesterday. Any tweaks will be "to maintain Singapore's overall economic growth as well as investment attractiveness in the market (for foreign investors)", said Dr Chua Yang Liang, JLL head of research for Singapore and South-east Asia.

Aug condo rents fall 0.4%, lease transactions slide 1.6%

THE month of August saw weaker private leasing and fewer rental transactions. Private condominium and apartment rents dipped 0.4 per cent in August, after falling 0.3 per cent in July, according to data released by SRX Property on Wednesday.

83% committed occupancy at CapitaGreen

Capitagreen, the S$1.4 billion Grade A office tower that has been developed on the former Market Street Car Park site, has seen its committed occupancy rise to 83 per cent, from 80.4 per cent as at end-June this year. The 40-storey building is home to some 30 multinational companies from diverse industry sectors including insurance, energy and commodities, technology and e-commerce, as well as financial services, said CapitaLand's president and group CEO, Lim Ming Yan, at the official opening ceremony for the building on Wednesday.

CDLHT makes first hotel acquisition in UK

CDL Hospitality Trust (CDLHT) has marked its maiden entry into Europe with the acquisition of Cambridge City Hotel in the UK. It is doing so by acquiring 100 per cent of the issued capital of LR (Cambridge) Limited, which owns and operates the hotel, from London & Regional Group Trading No 3 Limited.

Latest selldown could be buying point for Reits, say analysts

Singapore-Listed Reits and stapled trusts averaged negative total returns of 5.9 per cent in the year-to-date, underperforming the global benchmark's total return of 0.7 per cent, according to data compiled by SGX StockFacts on Wednesday.
