HDB resale prices rise 0.3%, transactions fall 6.8% in Aug: SRX

HDB resale prices edged up in August while resale transactions dipped during the ghost month, going by the latest flash estimates by SRX Property on Thursday. Resale prices climbed 0.3 per cent last month, led by four-room and five-room flats; SRX Property revised its index for July, which now shows a 0.6 per cent drop in HDB resale prices instead of a 0.5 per cent drop.

JBE's Yishun project may have lowest psf price for ECs this year

Signature at Yishun, the first executive condominium (EC) to be launched following the income ceiling hike for EC buyers, is slated to be sold at an average of S$750 per square foot (psf) or less, say market sources. If this indicative average pricing is anything to go by, it will be the lowest psf pricing for ECs this year.

Diversify Smart Nation conversation

Since the launch of the Smart Nation initiative last year ("A smart Singapore in the works"; May 14, 2014), it has been emphasised that the plan is ultimately about meeting human needs and enhancing people's lives, rather than having technology just for the sake of it. Whether deliberate or not, this sets up a false dichotomy -wherein critics of the Smart Nation are portrayed as Luddites who refuse to consider the progressive potential of technology.
